Masterpiece Builders were great to work with in building our home, and we feel that they did an excellent job. Prior to our using Masterpiece, we had not built a home in Utah and did not have a prior relationship with Ken Cordner or the rest of the Masterpiece Builders’ team. We were probably a little frustrating to work with initially as house plans and various building and upgrade options were new to us because we had been out of the country for many years, but Ken was helpful and patient as we came to a decision on our house plans and how we were going to proceed. We felt comfortable working with him during those early decisions and are very pleased that we decided to use Masterpiece to build our home.
During the construction process it was apparent to us that Masterpiece had very good relationships with their subcontractors, and we were very pleased with the work that was done. As we traveled to the various suppliers, we consistently heard extremely positive comments by the suppliers in regards to their experience in working with Masterpiece, and we found that the allowances that had been included in the quote were very fair and consistent with what had been discussed with us. When we made decisions to spend more than the allowance it was clear what that difference was and how it was to be paid, when we spent less than the allowance it was credited to us.
An extremely important aspect to our relationship with Masterpiece was communication. We felt that the project manager assigned to our home, McKay Cordner, was easy to talk with and very responsive to any questions or concerns that we had. When situations arose that needed decisions we were able to discuss through the alternatives available and come to mutually agreeable conclusions. Throughout the construction we felt that McKay was looking out for our interests and worked hard to make sure that we were happy with the work being done. His integrity (and that of Masterpiece) was evident during all aspects of the building process.
In summary, three major concerns we had prior to building were that our house would be built in a timely manner, on budget, and to a high quality. Masterpiece did a great job in meeting our expectations in all of these regards, and we feel very comfortable in recommending them.

This was not our first new homebuilding experience, and given the challenges we faced with our previous builder we were a little hesitant to tackle this again. However, the organization, professionalism, and attention to detail exhibited by you and your subcontractors was amazing, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the process and the results. Thank you!
In particular, please give my thanks to our project manager McKay, whom I worked with most closely and who went out of his way numerous times to make sure that details were handled and issues were resolved promptly. He and all of your staff were wonderful to work with. However, I can’t say that I’m anxious to repeat this process anytime soon, mostly because I don’t want to move all of our stuff again!

We have lived in Utah for 4 years. Before we selected a home, we looked at more than 50 in Alpine, Highland, and Saratoga Springs. We finally selected a home built by Ken Cordner and Masterpiece Builders. We requested from Ken a number of changes, including some minor structural changes. Ken and his company were fast and efficient in making those changes for us.
I could see that Ken was honest, and his company did excellent work. As a result, we had Ken complete our basement, and then add a 1000 sq ft detached garage with an additional 1000 sq ft residential space above the garage. The additional space above the garage was suggested by Ken as it could be done very inexpensively. The workmanship of these jobs was excellent.
Because I now trusted Ken to do excellent work, fast and efficiently, I now have had him build three additional investment homes. The last, in Alpine, is a very upscale home, that has sold for more than $1.6 million. The home is absolutely beautiful, and has all the touches of the quality put in by Ken and his company.
On all of these homes, including our own, Ken and his company were quick to address any issues that showed up after moving in. I recommend Masterpiece Builders, and Ken Cordner in particular, with the highest recommendations possible for building high quality homes and doing it efficiently and with class.

When I moved to Alpine, Utah 2 years ago my wife and I purchased a construction in progress home from Ken Cordner and Masterpiece Builders. Fortunately, we were able to make several changes for our particular tastes and select all of the finish items. Ken and his team were wonderful to work with as we made architectural and finish decisions. There were no hidden costs and for each upgrade we knew up front the exact cost so there was no suprises. Ken and his team were wonderful working with my wife on finish and color selections and their expertise paid off in our beautiful home.
Once we moved in, they were quick to address any issues we might have in the normal course of things. They were extrememly pleasant about everything – including when we wanted to change a few things after moving in.
We’ve built homes before and have never worked with anyone as professional and creative as Ken and all the team at Masterpiece Builders. I can HIGHLY recommend them to anyone looking for a top notch custom home builder who makes building a home a pleasant experience.
